John Gordon of X-RATED receives the X332 Class Association trophy after winning the annual X332 championship which was held at ACCBank Cork Week this year on 12th -18th July 2008.

After a closely contested series of races X-RATED just beat Xena and Brightwork across the line in the final race to finish 2nd to Roxanne. If X-rated had been 4th she would have lost the Championship to Roxanne who had been hot on her heels all week.

Skandia Cowes Week 2007

Cowes Week 2007
X332s dominate IRC6 Class at Skandia Cowes Week 2007.

Racing for the first time as part of an IRC Class in Cowes Week, rather than a one design as in previous years, X332s dominated the 55 strong IRC Class 6.

The overall winners of Class 6 were Iain Kirkpatrick and his crew from Haven Ports YC sailing GBR8228R Fatjax (the blue X-332 in the photograph). Iain and his crew had won the 2006 X332 class at Cowes week.

X332’s also won four of the seven days racing with NED5859 Vanilla (Niek Spiljard and crew from the Netherlands) winning on Sunday and Thursday, Fatjax winning on Tuesday and GBR8500R Brightwork (Bob and Jon Baker from RLymYC) winning on Wednesday.

In the overall X332 rankings it was Fatjax, Vanilla and Brightwork 1st, 2nd and 3rd; followed by Octave, Electron V, White Knight V and Ilex.

After the event, X332 Class Association Secretary Bob Baker commented “the limited X332 entry in SCW06, probably due to our having 15 boats at Cork last year, meant that regrettably we did not get a OD class start at this year’s Cowes week. But the narrow IRC TCF band meant that there was close and competitive racing throughout the week . These results again show that the X332 remains the mid-sized cruiser-racer to beat in the UK.”
